Continuous Functions on Compact Groups

چکیده
We show that every scalar valued continuous function f(g) on a compact group G may be written as f(g) = 〈Φ(g)ξ, η〉 for all g ∈ G, where ξ, η are vectors in a separable Hilbert space H, and Φ(g) is a strongly continuous unitary valued function on G which is a product of unitary representations and antirepresentations of G on H. This product is countable, but always converges uniformly on G. Moreover the supremum norm of f is matched by ‖ξ‖‖η‖. This may be viewed as a ‘Fourier product representation’ for f , and complements a result of Eymard for the Fourier algebra. For ‘Fourier polynomials’ we show that the Hilbert space may be taken to be finite dimensional, and the product finite, which is more or less obvious except in that we are able to match the correct norm. The main ingredients of the proof are the Peter-Weyl theory, Tannaka’s duality theorem, and a method developed with Paulsen using a characterization of operator algebras due to the author, Ruan and Sinclair. We also give the analogues of these formulae for compact

On rarely generalized regular fuzzy continuous functions in fuzzy topological spaces
In this paper, we introduce the concept of rarely generalized regular fuzzy continuous functions in the sense of A.P. Sostak's and Ramadan is introduced. Some interesting properties and characterizations of them are investigated. Also, some applications to fuzzy compact spaces are established.
متن کاملOn continuous cohomology of locally compact Abelian groups and bilinear maps
Let $A$ be an abelian topological group and $B$ a trivial topological $A$-module. In this paper we define the second bilinear cohomology with a trivial coefficient. We show that every abelian group can be embedded in a central extension of abelian groups with bilinear cocycle. Also we show that in the category of locally compact abelian groups a central extension with a continuous section can b...

Let $L$ be a completely regular frame and $mathcal{R}L$ be the ring of real-valued continuous functions on $L$. We consider the set $$mathcal{R}_{infty}L = {varphi in mathcal{R} L : uparrow varphi( dfrac{-1}{n}, dfrac{1}{n}) mbox{ is a compact frame for any $n in mathbb{N}$}}.$$ Suppose that $C_{infty} (X)$ is the family of all functions $f in C(X)$ for which the set ${x in X: |f(x)|geq dfrac{1...
متن کاملFractal Dimension of Graphs of Typical Continuous Functions on Manifolds
If M is a compact Riemannian manifold then we show that for typical continuous function defined on M, the upper box dimension of graph(f) is as big as possible and the lower box dimension of graph(f) is as small as possible.
متن کاملINCLUSION RELATIONS CONCERNING WEAKLY ALMOST PERIODIC FUNCTIONS AND FUNCTIONS VANISHING AT INFINITY
We consider the space of weakly almost periodic functions on a transformation semigroup (S, X , ?) and show that if X is a locally compact noncompact uniform space, and ? is a separately continuous, separately proper, and equicontinuous action of S on X, then every continuous function on X, vanishing at infinity is weakly almost periodic. We also use a number of diverse examples to show ...
